Once a year, a music festival takes place in Viña del Mar, welcoming artists from different countries. The festival has lost the popularity it held in the 80s during Pinochet's right-winged dictatorship.
Every year a beauty queen is chosen for the festival. The contestants are primarily female local reality show stars. Traditionally the winner dives into the pool at the hotel where the contest is held every year.
